The Embiggen Group and the Embiggen Innovation Institute (EII) hosted two events on corporate venturing, and innovation at the 2022 Philippine Startup Week last week.
This year marks the third consecutive year that Embiggen was part of the Philippines’ largest startup conference. It is organized annually by the Departments of Science and Technology (DOST), Trade & Industry (DTI), and Information and Communications Technology (DICT), together with the QBO Innovation Hub.
In this year’s edition, Embiggen’s corporate innovation experts and partners explored how corporations and startups can leverage innovation to find new ways to grow their businesses.
At the EII event last November 14, EII Managing Director & recognized Global Innovation Management Institute Innovation Master Masaki Mitsuhashi shared how corporations can find and identify opportunities to innovate.
Mitsuhashi shared some tried-and-tested tools that systematize and organize the search for these innovation opportunities such as the Business Opportunity Map. He said that these can grow a startup into the next innovative tech giant with the likes of Apple and Tesla.
Embiggen also held a panel discussion last November 18 with Embiggen Founding CEO & Managing Partner Rolan Marco Garcia, Behind Genius Ventures & Backend Capital Limited Partner Paul Pajo, and Bayfront Capital Advisors Managing Director & Philippines Country Head RJ Angeles. Embiggen Head of Business Development Marrione Camacho moderated the discussion.
The four innovation practitioners and venture capitalists discussed how corporate venturing is the next frontier of corporate innovation. They argued that corporate venture building is the most effective organic growth strategy, evidenced by the billion-dollar businesses that were created through it.
Previous Embiggen events at Philippine Startup Week included discussions on digital transformation, corporate innovation, and futures thinking in 2020, and a panel discussion on the novel but powerful venture capital-as-a-service innovation model in 2021.
Embiggen has many upcoming events lined up where you can get these insights live and first-hand from our network of innovation experts, academics, venture capitalists, and business leaders.
