Embiggen hosted a complimentary preview of the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI) Certified Innovation Professional program on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
The first cohort of Embiggen-trained innovators will begin their training for the GIMI Certified Innovation Professional Level 1 program on January 15, 2022.
Speaking at the event, Rolan Garcia, Embiggen’s Chief Executive Officer said that “The GIMI Certification consolidates all of those tactical [innovation] frameworks to make it easy for you to innovate, to think of innovation, to ideate innovation, and to come out of that particular certification really prepared to execute [the frameworks] come Monday.”

GIMI is the globally recognized standard and certification board for innovation and innovation management. Established companies like the Ayala Corporation, Pfizer, HSBC and H&M have sent their innovation practitioners to become GIMI certified innovators.
Through Embiggen’s partnership with GIMI, innovation practitioners, managers, and leaders in the Philippines can now locally avail of GIMI’s prestigious and globally-recognized innovation programs.
GIMI Level 1: Innovation Associate
At the first level of the GIMI Certified Innovation Professional program, participants will be introduced to the basics of innovation and will develop their innovation skills, and capabilities by doing hands-on projects, participating in online courses and studying the Innovation Management Body of Knowledge guide books.
“There’s a lot of class discussions while we get certified and that’s a very important part of the learning journey. To not only learn from your instructor but also learn from each other. And I think this is where innovation really comes in,” said Garcia.
The class schedule of the 6-week program is friendly to the busy lifestyles of working professionals and executives. Synchronous classes are held every Saturday at 3:00-7:00 PM.
Being innovation certified provides a career boost to professionals working in various industries. GIMI certified innovation practitioners have shared that the certification gave them an edge to get the job they currently have.
On the other hand, organizations benefit from having individuals adept at innovation. Certified innovation practitioners have the knowledge to generate new ideas and build long-term growth for their organizations.
“Even if you have the best processes and stage-gate model for innovation, if your people are not really trained in terms of how to manage and do innovation, it’s almost always unfortunately not going to work,” said Garcia.
At the end of this first level, participants will gain the level of Innovation Associate and will be well on their journey to becoming GIMI certified innovators.
